Silva acknowledged that the match was challenging, citing Newcastle's strong motivation after their win against Benfica in midweek and the team's usual start to games at St James Park.
"It was a difficult game, as expected," Silva said. "We knew that Newcastle would come out strongly, pushing the crowd and using their home advantage."
Silva felt that his team began to settle into the game after the first 10-15 minutes, and that they played well, but ultimately made mistakes that led to their defeat.
"We knew that if we could settle our game, it would be tough for Newcastle," Silva said. "We started to play well, and we were proud of our performance, but we made individual errors that cost us the game."
Silva praised Fulham's overall performance but acknowledged that they need to improve in certain areas.
"I think we were strong collectively, but individual decisions made the difference," Silva said. "We have to do the basics well, and we didn't. We have to face it and improve."
Silva also discussed the challenges of facing a team with a strong bench, including players like Sandro Tonali, who was introduced in the second half.
"They were able to make changes and put pressure on us," Silva said. "We tried to adapt, but we're not in a position to make similar changes right now."
Silva expressed disappointment with the loss but felt that his team showed good spirit and resilience.
"We were good, but we want more," Silva said. "We have to improve and learn from our mistakes."
