Antiguoko, Zubimendi's former youth club, is taking the case to court, claiming they are owed €1 million from the deal.
Roberto Montiel, technical director of Antiguoko, explained that the club had an agreement with Real Sociedad until 2020, but decided not to renew it due to the latter's behavior.
Montiel stated that Real Sociedad had agreed to pay 5% of the transfer fee to Antiguoko, but has not done so, and that the club is now seeking an administrative dispute to resolve the matter.
Antiguoko has also accused Real Sociedad of trying to limit their ability to recruit players from a specific geographical area, citing a provincial law that they claim is being unfairly enforced.
Montiel compared this to a scenario where a child from a London neighborhood cannot sign with a London club, calling it "madness."
He emphasized that the compensation money is crucial for Antiguoko's academy and that they will continue to pursue the matter in court.
Montiel also mentioned a previous incident where Real Sociedad refused to allow Zubimendi to collect an award from Antiguoko, forcing the club to cancel the event.
He expressed confidence that the situation will be resolved and that Zubimendi's former teammate, Mikel Arteta, will not pose a problem in the future.
