Carrick, along with other candidates including Gary O'Neil and Rob Edwards, has been mentioned as a possible replacement.
In a recent interview, Carrick expressed his current happiness with taking time off from management, saying, "I'm enjoying some time out at the moment. I think I'm probably watching as much football now as I've ever watched really, with a free eye and kind of nothing on it."
Carrick has been working as a UEFA technical observer since leaving Middlesbrough in the summer, a role that has given him the opportunity to reflect on his experiences as a coach.
During his time at Middlesbrough, Carrick led the team from the relegation zone to the playoffs, making him a strong candidate for the Wolves job.
Meanwhile, the club's youth team coaches, James Collins and Richard Walker, will oversee training sessions while the club explores potential replacements ahead of their upcoming match against Chelsea.
