Journalist David Ornstein has reported that Mainoo has not had contract talks with Manchester United for some time. This is partly because of growing interest in him from clubs in the Serie A league.

Mainoo's current contract is low-paid, which means Manchester United will not lose much money if he leaves. However, this also makes him an attractive proposition for other clubs looking to sign him.

Mainoo has only played a small amount of league football this season, totaling just 138 minutes. With the January transfer window approaching, it seems increasingly likely that he will move to a new club.
