The fine of £27 million ($37m) is a result of an investigation into the club's financial activities during the periods ending in 2023 and 2024.
UEFA has warned Chelsea that additional penalties may be imposed if the club fails to meet certain financial requirements in the future.
Chelsea is not the only Premier League team facing financial sanctions from UEFA, with Aston Villa also receiving penalties for similar breaches.
Aston Villa was fined £9.5 million ($13m) immediately and may face further penalties of up to £15 million ($20.5m) depending on their future financial performance.
