The game was stopped when Semenyo, 25, reported the incident to the referee, Anthony Taylor.
Police have confirmed that a 47-year-old Liverpool man was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offense and has been released on bail with certain conditions.
These conditions include not attending any regulated football match in the UK and staying at least one mile away from designated football stadiums.
Semenyo scored two goals in the game, which Liverpool won 4-2.
